NAD+
You may have heard about the new “fountain of youth” drug, NAD+. Celebrities have been receiving it through IV and local drip bars are starting to offer it. There are various ways you can supplement with NAD+- IV, oral, sublingual and subcutaneous. Subcutaneous (injecting under the skin) and IV administration are the most effective because they bypass metabolism by the gastrointestinal system. IV administration has to be done very carefully to avoid side effects such as nausea and diaphoresis and is time consuming- often taking 2+ hours to administer.
What is NAD+?
NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is an essential coenzyme in regulating metabolism, longevity, DNA repair, and the immune system. A deregulation of NAD+ levels is associated with signs of aging, metabolic diseases, neurodegeneration, and cancer.
NAD levels decline with age, and some researchers believe that this decline may contribute to age-related health problems. There’s ongoing research into whether increasing NAD levels could help slow aging or prevent age-related diseases.
